Heigh ho, it's off to see Snow White we go! Snow White, the live-action remake, was released in theaters on March 21st. The movie received a lot of controversy before its release, and there was a lot of backlash surrounding Rachel Zegler, who plays Snow White in the film.

A lot of people felt the costume and the wig did not live up to the original movie’s standards. On the contrary, I felt Rachel perfectly portrayed Snow White, from her looks down to her mannerisms and amazing singing voice. Watching this movie, you are captivated by the musical numbers, the action-packed scenes, and the love story unfolding between Snow White and Johnathan.

Snow White had an excellent soundtrack that took a twist on some of the songs from the original film. The movie included a lot of foreshadowing, from the beginning to the end. There were even lyrics in the songs that foreshadowed upcoming events.

Unlike the original, however, it was not a prince who actually woke up Snow White. Yes, there was still the iconic kissing scene at the end that woke her up from her sleeping curse, but Johnathan was only a common villager. The storyline no doubt included a few changes, but the writers did a fine job keeping the audience engaged and anticipating what would happen next!

This adaptation of the story fits modern times and was highly focused on women not needing men to save them. In this version, Snow White did not wish for a prince, but rather to find herself and reclaim her kingdom from the hands of the Evil Queen. Speaking of the queen, Gal Gadot nailed the Evil Queen role in every way. She had a chilling, cold, and heartless vibe throughout the entire film, along with her stellar singing voice.

The dwarfs were greatly highlighted and focused on using CGI technology. I especially enjoy that Dopey got a lot of screen time. I predict this could possibly lead to Disney making a film about Dopey or even the Seven Dwarfs themselves. As for film photography and effects, they were detailed and made the movie better come to life.

Overall, Snow White is definitely worth going to see. Personally, it surpassed my expectations. The soundtrack, cast, and visuals were all outstanding! Though unlike the cartoon, it truly did have a great storyline and message.

Rather than being exactly a remake, the film is more of a retelling of the story with some great additions. It adds more elements to the story that you didn't think you needed. Head to a theater near you to see this amazing movie for yourself!
