Just like in 2017-2020, fidget toys and stress relievers have risen back to the surface. These past two months the new craze in America has been NeeDoh stress reliever toys, a brand that produces various stress relieving toys in different shapes, colors, and sizes. What started as a simple fidget toy has quickly turned into a full-blown trend, with students rushing to stores and selling them out immediately.
And like always, teenage girls have become susceptible to the bright colors and advertising. Scrolling on TikTok, all you see is influencers squeezing these NeeDohs, making girls our age easy targets.
As a result, girls have started going crazy ordering them from different sites, quickly selling them out nationwide. This is especially true at Fontbonne, where girls would rush to Walgreens after school to find them, only to find them sold out.
Many students say they use them during class to focus or manage stress, even allowing them to better concentrate on what the teacher is saying. However, not everyone agrees that they are positive in the school environment. Some teachers view NeeDohs as a distraction, especially if the student uses them to pass time during class.
To add, I’ve also been caught up in this craze and have obsessed over the idea of having one. Playing around with my friends’ NeeDoh during class wasn’t enough, so I set out on my journey to find one, but it was to no avail. Every store I checked had empty shelves, making me realize how popular they quickly became in such a short amount of time.
Overall, as trends rise and then soon die down, NeeDohs can be more important than just a trend. They are often used to manage stress and focus in school, aiding students to achieve and strive for what they need. As time goes on, we will see where they end up, but as of now it is clear that NeeDohs are everywhere, and everyone wants one.
