On October 20, 2022, Misrach Ewunetie was found murdered on campus.

Prior to her murder, Misrach Ewunetie, an Ethiopian immigrant, was a Princeton student. She was both brilliant and well-liked.

On October 14, 2022, Ewunetie volunteered at the Terrace Club on campus. She was last seen at about 3 a.m. that night near Scully Hall, her residential building. Her family contacted Princeton after not hearing from her for a few days to inquire about her whereabouts. The following day, Monday, October 17th, the university declared Ewunetie missing. Authorities used helicopters, drones, and watercraft to locate her. Law enforcement presence on campus was also increased for student safety. Finally, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, Ewunetie's body was found near the campus tennis courts- not far from where she was last seen.

The Ewunetie family, from Ohio, are absolutely heartbroken and seek justice for their daughter. Authorities are denying foul play at the time but have ordered an autopsy to determine Ewunetie's cause of death. Misrach Ewunetie is remembered as a phenomenal student, dedicated volunteer, and kind friend. She had dreamed of attending Princeton.
