Donald Trump, former president of the US, and his company were found guilty of tax fraud. This was the first time Trump and his real estate organization were fully tried and convicted for a crime. He will be facing charges with the maximum punishment being over $1 million. Two Trump establishments were guilty of seventeen different counts of fraud, as well as fabricated business records.
The firm is facing charges, but they believe the actual perpetrators of the crime should face the charges instead. A statement from the Trump organization: “The notion that a company could be held responsible for an employee's actions, to benefit themselves, on their own personal tax returns is simply preposterous."
His company being convicted of tax fraud could affect his running in the 2024 presidential election. Fontbonne sophomore Grace Murphy, who plans on voting in 2024, shared her opinion on how she thinks this crime will affect Trump and his campaign: “I think this truly could affect Trump and who votes for him. Some people are fans, but people who aren’t considered liberal or republican might look at this negatively and vote against him. He may have less of a chance of winning the 2024 presidential election.”
Trump is facing charges for his crime, and according to NY DA Letitia James’s lawsuits, Trump and his family were avoiding tax workers. Donald Trump is getting charged a lot of money for being convicted of tax fraud, and his 2024 campaign may be in jeopardy.
