3 EASY THANKSGIVING CRAFTS

Elisavet Kammas '26

With the holidays just around the corner, schools are getting ready for Thanksgiving break. Houses are adorned with wreaths, pumpkins, and other fall related items. Here are three DIY Thanksgiving crafts anyone can do from home.

  1. Toilet Paper Tube Turkeys

This craft requires half a toilet paper tube, red, brown, and orange cardstock, multiple-colored scrap paper, googly eyes, and glue. Cut the brown cardstock into a circle for the turkey’s head. Cut red cardstock into an oval shape for the gobble. Use orange cardstock for the beak. The scrap paper will be used as feathers. Glue these “feathers” on the top of the toilet paper tube. Glue the face of turkey onto the tube as well.

This should leave you with a DIY turkey just in time for Thanksgiving!

2. Pilgrim Hats

For this craft, you will need black and brown construction paper, gold glitter paper or yellow construction paper, scissors, a stapler, and glue. Trace a pilgrim hat with the black construction paper, and a band with the brown construction paper (this will be glued onto the hat). Using the yellow/golden paper, cut out a buckle. Cut two to three longer bands with the brown construction paper (this will go around the head). Glue the shorter band onto the front of the pilgrim hat. Staple the longer bands together - make sure it fits your head! Staple these bands onto the back of the hat. Glue on the buckle. Finally, staple the bands going around your head closed.

Thanksgiving can finally be complete with your new pilgrim hat!

3. Pumpkin-Beaded Pipe Cleaners

Materials needed for this are, four (12 inch) orange pipe cleaners, one (12 inch) green pipe cleaner, and orange beads (about 130 in total). Line up the orange pipe cleaners evenly and twist them. Now that they are twisted, spread the pipe cleaners out - you should have eight lines (the pipe cleaners) sticking out. On each pipe cleaner, put on the orange beads. Leave about an inch of space to tie the pipe cleaners together. Bend the ends of the pipe cleaners together, pointing to each other. Twist the ends together - make sure they are secure! Pull the beaded pipe cleaners outwards. This should make a spherical shape. Wrap your green pipe cleaner around the orange pipe cleaner ends twisted together. Leave some green pipe on each side (don't fully wrap it). Twirl the ends of the green pipe cleaner around your finger to make them curly.

At last, you should have a pipe cleaner beaded pumpkin!
