Ariana Grande’s ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Turns Sorrow into Success

Ariana Grande’s new album, ‘Eternal Sunshine,’ released on March 8, 2024, has taken her music to an entirely new level. Throughout the 13 tracks, Grande explores new sounds and expands her lyrical horizon. 


Fans from all around the world were more than excited to hear something new from Ariana Grande for the first time since her ‘Positions’ album, released in 2021. Listeners have grasped onto the idea that this album is the ultimate break up album, with songs more on the vulnerable side, such as “I Wish I Hated You” and the album title, “Eternal Sunshine.”


The album is based on the 2004 rom-com Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey. It reflects on the movie’s plot of two lovers breaking up, and the man undergoing a medical procedure in order to wipe all of his memories that consist of his past relationship.


Track 10’s music video, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love),” accurately depicts the movie because Grande gets her memories that have to do with her previous relationship erased. 


With ‘Eternal Sunshine,’ Grande has been able to be unstoppable on the Billboard Charts, surpassing all competition. Fans are happy, and so is she, and this new era of music is Grande’s breakthrough: lyrically and sonically.
