After much anticipation, Tyler Okonma, better known as “Tyler the Creator”, released his album, Chromakopia, on October 28, 2024. After being teased with a clip from his “St. Chroma” music video, fans and new listeners alike were sent into excitement for this new project, discussing potential themes and features he may be hinting at–a big one being Frank Ocean. Tyler is known for his creativity, and many waited impatiently for Chromakopia’s colorful debut.
The album, featuring experimental production and meaningful lyrics, indicates critical moments in Tyler’s life. In “Hey Jane,” he experiences a pregnancy scare, and in “Like Him,” he copes with his father's absence and the struggle that comes with it. For many fans and critics, the album feels like a culmination of years of growth, watching a lot of Tyler's previous work come together to build something new.
