Fontbonne Soccer Celebrates an Amazing Season
Francesca Sorrentino ‘29
Fontbonne soccer had an amazing season, marking a major comeback from previous years. The team is currently ranked third in the division. One of their biggest accomplishments so far is defeating Kennedy Catholic High School, the #1 team in the division.
The addition of new coaches has helped the team improve on the field and become stronger soccer players. Throughout the season, players have learned to work together and have created a strong dynamic with one another. Each player has worked hard to contribute to the team's success.
Sophomores Madeline Forrester, Rory Hanretty and Jenna Ghorra say that one of the team's most memorable days was Senior Night. The evening game started with a full senior lineup, followed by speeches and posters celebrating the seniors. The players' mothers also helped with decorating beautifully and bringing great food.
Although senior night was very fun, it was also emotional. The team is sad to see the seniors leave at the end of the school year but are grateful for the memories they've created. The players are also extremely proud of the many wins they've accumulated over the season, making the seniors last year with Fontbonne even more memorable.
As the seniors continue for the next few weeks, the team hopes to advance to first place. The team knows the seniors will be missed, not just for their talent but for the friendships and team spirit they brought to the team.
Overall, Fontbonne’s Soccer season has been more than winning games. It has been about teamwork and lasting friendships. With an incredible comeback this year, and an unforgettable season, the team has a lot to be proud of.
