New Favorites Emerge at the 2026 Golden Globes

The 83rd Annual Golden Globes was a night of surprises, big winners, and new beginnings. This event was Hollywood’s first big celebration of the year. The Golden Globes took place on January 11, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. It was hosted by Nikki Glaser, an American comedian and actress.

Two films that dominated the night were One Battle After Another and Hamnet. The most celebrated picture of the night was One Battle After Another. The film had many wins, including Best Motion Picture for Musical or Comedy, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, and Teyana Taylor won Best Supporting Actress. Director Paul Thomas Anderson made history with these wins. Hamnet won Best Motion Picture for Drama, beating many favorites and proving that a wide range of stories were recognized at this year’s Globes. Jessie Buckley, a leading actress in the film, took home Best Actress in a Drama.

Many others left as winners as well. Wagner Moura won Best Actor in a Drama for The Secret Agent. Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme. Rose Byrne won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song went to KPop Demon Hunters, the animated hit.

Television was another very competitive category. The Studio won Best Television Series for Comedy, while The Pitt took home Best Drama Series. Adolescence, on Netflix, won several awards, including Best Limited Series/Anthology and many acting trophies. Noah Wyle in The Pitt took home Best Actor in a Drama Series. Rhea Seehorn in Pluribus took home Best Actress in a Drama. Seth Rogen was honored as Best Actor in a TV Comedy Series. There was also a Best Podcast category at the Globes, which was awarded to Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

Along with the many awards, the night included several other exciting moments. Nikki Glaser’s opening statement mixed humor with cultural comedy and set an outgoing tone. The red carpet was shining, with Selena Gomez and Priyanka Chopra Jonas having some of the best looks of the night.

The 2026 Golden Globes did a fantastic job of honoring great films and shows, but it also showed where entertainment may be headed in the future. One Battle After Another and Hamnet taking home strong wins have made the films early favorites. The Golden Globes made a major impact and will continue to honor films and shows for years to come.
