Reneé Rapp’s EP really is “Everything to Everyone”

If you don’t recognize the name Reneé Rapp from her Jimmy Award win in 2018, or her Broadway debut as Regina in Mean Girls in 2019, or her new Netflix sitcom, you might recognize her from her latest EP, “Everything to Everyone” which came out December of 2022.

The EP has a very desperate yet satisfying tone with each song supplying something different. Rapp describes this record as a “bittersweet hug.” The opening track, “Everything to Everyone (intro)” includes Rapp’s raw vocals, ensuring a deeper connection with the listener. Each song leaves the listeners reflecting, which was Rapp’s goal.

The EP’s arguably most popular song “In the Kitchen” showcases Rapp’s powerhouse vocals and emotions while telling a powerful story. Rapp spoke with Rolling Stone where she said, “It’s my worst emotional experience put into a song that centers on me, not the person it’s written about, I wanted that to be the focus — it’s not the longing for the person, it’s the grief that comes with being hurt.” Rapp makes sure her music engages listeners and connects with them on a personal level, and is not just specific to her life.

“Everything to Everyone” has over 2 million streams on YouTube alone, proving her popularity. Her quick rise to fame led her music to be heard worldwide, deservedly so. Rapp’s Broadway debut allowed her to grow her fan base and pursue her dreams. “Music was all I ever wanted to do…Music is the way I communicate, the way that I feel heard,” Rapp shared.

This EP is life-changing and difficult to critique. Reneé Rapp’s vulnerability shines brightly through each song, guaranteeing her listeners feel something. Rapp hopes “...that people love it as much as I do because I care about it more than I probably care about anything in the world, even my well-being.”
