The Eras Tour is Taylor Swift's 6th concert tour, and it's huge. Swift has made about 4.1 billion from the tour so far. The American leg of the tour was so huge, that Ticketmaster shut down from a surplus of fans trying to buy tickets.
Fans were so crazy that they even created seismic activity at her concert that measured 2.3 on the magnitude scale. Fans would dance and scream, and the people who couldn’t go due to location were jealous.
The tour started in the United States, and there were a few nights in each state. This originally upset international fans who couldn’t travel to see her, and many of them posted how they wished she would come to other countries.
On June 19, 2023, Swift tweeted “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!” She then put out all of the dates and locations. These included shows in Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, and more.
After that tweet, she posted more about the tours on other social media websites. On the day of the ticket sale, fans swarmed Ticketmaster again, causing technical difficulties. Many tickets were sold, and the tickets that were not sold averaged around $1,500 in more popular/better seats and $800 in less popular/more obstructed seats.
She is currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. One of these nights had to be postponed due to an extreme heat wave. On November 17, 2023, while Swift was performing, a fan named Ana Clara Benevides Machado died from a heat stroke. Swift stopped in the middle of songs multiple times to pass out water to the crowd. Previously, the venue did not allow people to bring in water, but after this tragedy, the rules changed.
Swift didn’t say anything about the death on stage, but she posted about it and played “Bigger than the Whole Sky” from the Midnights album, which was most likely dedicated to Benevides.
Despite Benevides’s tragic death, the international tour must continue, and fans couldn’t be more ready for it.
