Mitski is a rising Asian American pop indie artist. She grew a lot more popularity over quarantine and people spread her music over social media apps. Her music had and still is continuing to make an impact on the LGBTQIA+ community and women of color. Her songs generally focus on the harsh realities of these communities and how she personally experiences them. She has recently released a new song, which hasn’t happened since 2018, and with that announced a new tour. Tickets in all venues throughout the United States sold out within two days. I found that out the hard way. Most of her venues are small, for example, the New York show is being held at Rocker Feller Center which is definitely not the biggest venue. The upcoming album was produced during quarantine so we know this one is definitely going to be full of sad songs. Mitski deserves all of the publicity she has been receiving these past years. She worked hard and her albums are full of well-developed songs. If you haven’t given her a listen you should! Her songs may be sad but they hit close to home for anyone.
