Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Maria Tsevdos '26

Valentine's Day is a holiday dedicated to showing your love and appreciation for the people in your life. This love and appreciation can be shown in many ways, but one of the more common ways is through gift-giving. And while there are always obvious gifts like candy, flowers, and a stuffed animal, sometimes you want to give your loved ones something different, or more unique. That’s why in this article everything from the store-bought to the handmade will be covered for this year’s Valentine’s Day gifts.

For nearly everyone, a personalized gift is always fun to receive. Custom pieces of jewelry are usually the most popular gifts from these categories, and can usually be personalized with the receiver's name, initials, favorite flower, or their favorite gemstone. Matching clothes (like T-shirts and hoodies) are also good gifts. Handmade jewelry, like a friendship bracelet, is always fun to receive, especially as it is homemade and shows creativity.

Other gifts that can be made by hand: are a scrapbook filled with some of your favorite moments together, a handmade card, or a specially made playlist. A memory jar, filled with some of your favorite memories is a good choice as well. If you like to bake, homemade cookies or any other sweet treat always show dedication. And, obviously, handwritten letters are one of the more classic gifts that can be created. All of these are great options for gifts that you can make at home.

Of course, Valentine's Day doesn’t just have to be about the people in your life, but it can be about the love you have for yourself as well. Maybe this year for Valentine’s you can treat yourself too. Buy a snack, or buy that one thing that's been sitting in your shopping cart for months. Or, treat yourself to a self-care or movie night. Do something that makes you happy, and makes you feel loved.

Overall, Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrating love, and your gift should reflect that. It should be something that mirrors the love you have for the person receiving it and should be meaningful for both of you. Hopefully, this article helped you to decide what to gift your loved ones (and yourself), for Valentine’s Day this year.
