Wicked: Part two is an emotional and sentimental conclusion that leans into character and consequence. While the first movie focuses on building the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda, this installment explores what happens after their beloved bond breaks. The film does an excellent job at showing the internal and emotional conflict that occurs between the characters. It details the effects of their choices through reflective moments. Glinda's conflict feels extremely raw and delicate, making the story just a bit more painful.

That being said, the film is deliberate and detailed, which may surprise viewers who expected more magical elements and big musical numbers. However, the slower, stirring pace helps achieve the theme of truth, sacrifice and courage. The actors' performances are extremely moving and the ending feels bittersweet rather than wrapped up, which fits the moving story perfectly.
