Fontbonne’s Basketball team is stepping into success in their explosive season. The team started practicing in October, and as the months rolled by they have been able to conquer the court.
The Varsity team beat St. Edmund Prep and is heading to the State Championships next week. On March 7th, they will start off by playing against Moore Catholic. Varsity player Maryann Polanco (‘27) shares her excitement, “We are about even in the record, with around 13 wins and 12 losses. We will be playing Moore Catholic on the 7th. If we beat them we will advance further in the State Championships.”
The Junior Varsity team beat Poly Prep on senior night. Alexis Stathopoulos (‘27), a Junior Varsity Player, speaks on the team dynamic, “Though we have had a rough season, all of the teammates have built strong connections and bonds with each other leading to good sportsmanship and great team spirit.”
Not only do they work together as a team, but they also get along well off the court. One of the most important things that a group can have is teamwork. Teamwork and sportsmanship will guide them to triumph and help them achieve their goals. Good luck to the basketball team for the rest of your season; you’ve got the whole school defending you!
