This year’s annual Christmas Concert here at Fontbonne went great! With outstanding performances from The Tusks, our very own rock band, and Fontbonne’s two choirs, Concert Chorus and Chamber Choir, this year's concert will be one never to forget.
As a senior in Chamber Choir, this was my last Christmas Concert. I witnessed the hard work and determination put in by all of my peers to make this concert successful firsthand. Along with Ella Bernhardt and Natalie DiCapua, who are also seniors in the choir, we performed “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles to make our last performance special. Annalisa Castrogiovanni, a Fontbonne senior who watched the concert live from her home said, “Winter Song’ was the best part of the whole concert. I’m so sad I won’t see the seniors sing another Christmas song together”
Larry Esposito, a professional pianist accompanied the performers on piano throughout the concert. He really pulled the music together and gave helpful critiques to the performers to make them even better. Dr. Kaminski, Fontbonne’s newest choir director, showcased his singers in many group pieces, such as “Mary Did You Know” and “Vivaldi, Gloria.” He made a speech after the concert thanking the teachers who put in their hard work to make the concert run smoothly.
Special guest, former choir director, and current rock band leader, Ana Rege made an appearance in a duet with current religion teacher Mr. Schiedt singing “O Holy Night.” Their flawless performances always bring tears to the audience’s eyes. Samantha Leone, a senior in chamber choir, gave a statement on their performance where she said, “I absolutely love hearing them sing together. I can’t believe how amazing they are and I wish I could hear them sing every day.” That really showcases the love everyone has for their iconic performances.
The Tusks, Fontbonne’s rock band played three songs at the end of the concert, lifting the mood and encouraging people to move around. The concert came to a perfect end with the iconic, “Feliz Navidad” being the song to end it all. Being my last Christmas Concert, I am happy with the way it turned out and can’t wait to watch every future performance.
