On November 4, 2022, the Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in game six of the World Series. With a final score of 4-2, the Astros cemented their second consecutive World Series win.

After sweeping the New York Yankees 4-0 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS), the Astros made their way on up to the World Series. There, they faced the National League champions, the Philadelphia Phillies.

Both the Phillies and the Astros demonstrated defensive as well as offensive excellence to win their respective pennants. Going into the series, many did not predict just how well-matched these two teams were. Game one and three were taken by the Phillies, while the Astros bounced back in games two and four. Ultimately, fans didn’t know what to expect for the outcome of this finale to the baseball season.

The series finally came to a head after the Astros’ victory in game five. With a one-game lead, the Astros pitched a no-hitter, the second of its kind in World Series history. Between starter Framber Valdez and relievers Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly, the Astros’ game six pitching staff was stacked. Montero and Pressly each pitched one inning to match the previous six no-hit innings started by Valdez.

Both Houston and Philadelphia played hard and played well. The two teams truly showcased their talent and heart in their 2022 World Series battle. We’re all excited to see what the two teams will bring to the table next season. Though baseball season may be over, spring training will be here before you know it!
