Meet One of Our Chief Editors: Emma Berardelli

Hey! My name’s Emma Berardelli! I am a senior and one of the Editors-in-Chief for this year’s Folio. It is an absolute honor to share this role with Tessa! I have been a member of the Folio since freshman year when I, perhaps like many of you, signed up for almost every club imaginable as a wide-eyed freshman. As the years passed, not every club lasted, but the Folio grew extra special to me. Just in case you are not that familiar with the Folio, it is Fontbonne’s very own school newspaper–but if you’re reading this, I’m sure you already know that and I’m glad you’re here! We publish monthly issues at the end of each month that include everything from school highlights to teacher interviews done by students to global news and beyond.

If you do not know me through the Folio, chances are you’ve seen me making a speech as SAC President, running on the lacrosse field, or on the morning announcements every Monday. I love our school community so much that I try to get involved in as many ways I can. Last year I served as the Folio’s executive editor, and it was such a rewarding experience. This opportunity allowed me to not only read and edit articles, but to connect with others. The connection that the Folio fosters is what brings me back year after year. Your ideas are not only heard but also encouraged. Experiencing this inspired me to want to be an editor. I may be biased, but I feel the Folio has helped me grow both creatively and personally, and I hope reading this may inspire you to join and read the Folio too.

From next month on, you will experience the regular type of monthly issue with reviews, interviews, news, interactive games, and more! As Co-Editor-in-Chief, I’m excited to bring new ideas to our newspaper, such as “Folio: Far From Home” to share students’ stories from the spring break abroad trip and a “Student Spotlight” corner that includes uplifting articles written about students by other students. As I said earlier, the Folio connects people, and by adding this addition I hope to strengthen friendships and create an atmosphere of respect in the school community coming straight from the Folio!

I am eager to work with Tessa, Molly, Scarlett, and Gabrielle this year! If you ever need anything, whether it's Folio-related or not, I am always available and happy to talk to you. Let’s make this an inspired, fun-filled year. Until next month!
