Hey, I’m Gabby!

Hey, Fontbonne! If you don’t recognize my name from the Chaplet Prayer emails I send out every Thursday (please, come support Magnify!), then let me introduce myself. My name is Gabrielle Apisa and, as a three-year member of The Folio, I am beyond excited to be a Junior Editor this year!

Two years ago, as an eager freshman looking to get involved in any school activity I could, I joined The Folio. In part, it was a testament to my goal of one day becoming a political journalist. Without a doubt, some things have changed since then. I am no longer hooked on pursuing journalism, nor am I as fascinated by politics as I once was. But, my love for writing has surely remained constant.

Now, I’m not going to sugarcoat anything. There have been times when writing my Folio article has felt like a gruesome battle for the right words; a tough balancing act between personal authenticity and unbiased journalism. But, seeing my work get published every month and receiving positive feedback from the FHA community (shout-out to Mr. Philipps!), has always made it worthwhile.

So, as I make the transition into the Junior Editor life, I hope to share my love for writing with all of you. I hope to make this year of the Folio a great one; a year marked by a few fun word puzzles, perhaps a podcast, and definitely some insightful journalism.
