Lionel Messi, perhaps the G.O.A.T. of soccer, has been playing for around 26 years. His 18-year long career allowed him to play for Barcelona, and PSG in 2020. When he left Barca, he left not only his fans but everyone else in the soccer world miserable and angry.
Fast forward to December 2022, he and his Argentinian national team won the FIFA World Cup against France in Qatar. There has been suspicion of his retirement since then.
But there are new rumors in the media about Messi’s possible return to Barcelona. This rumor sparks speculation and joy.
There are a few reasons why this could likely be the case.
There is a prominent connection between the team Barcelona and Messi. Barcelona is where Messi has spent most of his career playing and earned not only himself but the team so much success. There is no doubt that the team has been struggling lately, and they could use a player with Messi's capability to redeem themselves. Mr. Laporta, the current president of Barcelona since 2021, has a good relationship with Messi and wants him back on the team.
Many interesting comments have been made about Messi’s suspected return. Earlier this month, the president of La Liga welcomed Messi back to La Liga, but was clear that Barecolna had a long way to go in order to obtain Messi back.
As mentioned before, the current team he plays on is Paris Saint-Germain, otherwise known as PSG. This team is filled with talent, which doesn't give Messi a chance to play as much. His family even lives in Spain, so there is really nothing stopping him from returning to Barca. It would get this team back on their feet, and leave his fans and La Liga thrilled.
Even though there is still the possibility that he might not return, it would be great to see this incredibly unique player back in his Barcelona jersey. We are all excited to see how it all plays out.
As of right now, his return is still up in the air. But one thing for sure is that if he does return it would be a life-changing moment for the football or soccer fans. Can these rumors become an epic reality? We can only wait and see.
