New York football has been experiencing a tough and eventful 2025 season so far. Both the New York Giants and Jets have been going through major changes on and off the field. Each team has been dealing with its own challenges, like coaching shifts and rebuilding phases. In this article, there will be the most current news for both New York teams so viewers can get caught up!

The New York Giants have had a very rough season so far. They have only won two games and lost nine. The Giants head coach, Brian Daboll was fired after a two to eight start. Their offensive coordinator, Mike Kafka, became the interim head coach. The Giants do, however, hold the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, potentially giving them big draft capital.

Now talking about players, the rookie Jaxson Dart is now the starting quarterback for the Giants. The Giants re-signed wide receiver/return specialist Ihmir Smith-Marsette. The rookie running back Cam Skattebo has been showing up as a playmaker. The Giants outstanding wide receiver, Malik Nabers, is out for the season with a torn ACL. Their running back Cam Skattebo suffered a serious ankle injury and is also out for the season. There are multiple key players that are listed as questionable going into week 12. Jaxson Dart has a concussion so is participating a little amount, cornerback Paulson Adebo injured his knee and did not practice, and outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux injured his shoulder and did not practice.

The Giants are most likely shifting towards gaining younger players in the future to rebuild their team. Given the team's injuries and current record, it is not likely they will experience a deep playoff run this year.

The New York Jets 2025 season has also been rough with their record being two to eight. This is the Jets first season playing under new general manager Darren Mougey and new head coach Aaron Glenn. The Jets traded star players Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams to rebuild their team. In return, they received several first-round picks.

The Jets wide receiver Garret Wilson is in injured reserve for his knee and is expected to return week 15. Wide receiver Irvin Charles has a knee ACL injury and is listed as physically unable to play. S Andre Cisco requires season-ending shoulder surgery. The Jets may start to explore trade options for quarterback Justin Fields. Rumors suggest he may be traded to the Atlanta Falcons. The Jets seem more focused on their future than their present so they can rebuild their team.

Unfortunately, this is not the season for either New York teams with many injuries and coaching issues. Hopefully both teams will come back stronger and better for the 2026 season!
