Penny Wars!

Over the course of the last three weeks, the Respect Club has started up another stellar initiative to help those in the community. Respect Club is a service club here at Fontbonne, available for all students to engage in.

Within this organization, students have the opportunity to learn the importance of giving to those in need, while also engaging in enjoyable activities with classmates.

As chairperson of the Respect Club, myself and my fellow executive board were trying our best to think of creative ways to raise earnings for a good cause. We finally came up with the idea of “Penny Wars!”

What is that, you may ask? Well each year will have a jar in the cafeteria with the grades name in  it. Students can drop any spare change they receive into the buckets. They can also donate bills if they wish, but coins seemed like more of a reasonable ask.

We decided to make this a competition among the different grades. This was a great way to kick off Sports Night season and invoked a sensation of competitiveness within the students. The grade with the most money in their jar after the span of three weeks will be entitled to bragging rights!
