Edson Arantes do Nascimento better known as Pelé, was an amazing Brazilian professional soccer player who unfortunately passed away on December 29, 2022, at the age of 82 after battling colon cancer, in São Paulo.
Pelé started playing soccer with his dad who was a small league player and taught him all the background and starter tips he needed to learn for soccer at the ripe age of 15. His career grew when he joined the Santos Football Club which supported him throughout his upbringing to becoming a soccer legend. Pelé knew from then that this is what he wanted to do with his life. Pelé’s passion and dedication to soccer were incredible. He was one of the most successful and popular players.
During the time that the great soccer legend Pelé was alive, he influenced so many young soccer players being the joint-top goal-scorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games. He put so much effort and dedication into his goal to become a great soccer player. Pelé first went international in 1957 at 16 years old, and at the age of 17, he played in the World Cup for the first time in Sweden. He eventually went on to win three World Cups.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do,’’ said Pelé.
