A world surrounded by planets, but never truly known. A planet in constant war, longing for attention. A planet where the people live in fear and poverty, where the government puts everything into winning a war. This planet is known as The Outer Planet, or The Outer City. Though full of turmoil, this place is home to people like Zoey.
Zoey is a part of the Warrior Gladiators League, a league for true soldiers who are willing to defend their planet. The Outer City was never at peace; this league was the only thing keeping everyone alive. But to Zoey, there was nothing they could ever do to change their situation. No one helped them. They would always and forever be…the invisible planet.
Zoey felt something in the air, something different, a tension pulling between the other planets. As she walked the streets, she saw explosions in the sky, and children running off to hide. She missed the feeling of when she was a child, when she looked up at the stars with her parents, not a care in the world. A time when these types of attacks weren’t the norm.
Izzy, Zoey's best friend, came sprinting towards her.
“Have you seen the report?!” Izzy asked frantically, with despair and concern in her eyes. “No…Why? What is it now?” Zoey responded, assuming it was most likely another attack.
Izzy was about to show her the report when suddenly, a woman screamed. Zoey turned, staring at the woman. But she was looking down at the floor, at a cup. Zoey thought, Was she poisoned? Was it one of those expired squeeze drinks? But no…Zoey's face dropped in astonishment.
The woman tried to pick up the cup, but her hand simply went right through it. The lady cried in terror. Zoey, with a dreaded look in her eye, turned back to Izzy. Izzy nodded her head as she started to cry, and she handed Zoey the screen with the news.
The Outer Planet had been destroyed…set on fire by enemies who were sick and tired of them attacking, so they bombed the planet without anyone knowing. The realization hit Zoey. They were all dead. Each and every one of them…
