The UConn women’s basketball team has long been a powerhouse in NCAA history, and they continue to hold that title after winning the 2025 NCAA championship.
An NCAA is a national championship title in a sport organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). These championships are very significant because they are the highest level of competition for college athletes in their respective sports.
On Sunday, April 6th, 2025, the UConn women's basketball team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks with a score of 82-59, securing their 12th NCAA national championship win.
This victory not only added another title under head coach Geno Auriemma’s leadership but also marked UConn’s first championship win in nine years.
Star players during the game included Azzi Fudd, who contributed significantly with 24 points, and Paige Bueckers, who added an additional 17 points. The Huskies displayed dominance throughout the match, maintaining a double-digit lead for the majority of the game and closing it out in the fourth quarter.
Overall, the victory was a momentous occasion for UConn women’s basketball fans and players alike. To celebrate, the team participated in a parade in Hartford, Connecticut, where thousands of fans gathered to congratulate them.
Additionally, the university organized a rally at Gampel Pavilion, allowing the team to celebrate with fans and address the excited crowd.
