February 11th was a great day for fans of the Chiefs, but not the 49ers. The Kansas City Chiefs won the game with a final overtime score of 22-25, although both teams kept fans guessing who would win until the final seconds.
Despite the exciting game, there is more to the Super Bowl than just football. While many people tune in for the sport, many others tune in for the halftime show and commercials.
Usher performed the halftime show with Alicia Keys, will.i.am, H.E.R, Ludacris, and many more. Despite what many people hoped, Justin Bieber did not perform. Many speculated he would be performing after an alleged conversation between him and Usher was analyzed all over social media.
Another big debate was whether Taylor Swift would be showing up to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce. While many people wanted her to come, there were many who didn't, and then there were the people who weren’t sure if she would even make it.
The continuation of the “Eras Tour” had her performing in Japan just the day before. She did make it in the end though, which was no surprise to the Swifties. It was the 13th game she was at for Travis, ironically also her lucky number.
The commercials were a big hit too… It seems like the CeraVe commercial had the most positive attention from social media. However, the Temu commercial, which is pronounced teh-moo and not tee-moo, got the most attention overall. Some were upset about the pronunciation, some were shocked by the amount of times it was played, and some were just bored with its content and annoying, repetitive song.
All in all, the Super Bowl was a great day for Swifties and Chiefs fans, but a disappointment to fans of Justin Bieber, and of course fans of the San Francisco 49ers who just can’t catch a break.
