This year, Fontbonne Hall Academy has seen various changes in all aspects including administration, roofing, new staff, and more. But, one of the biggest changes talked about heavily amongst students is the new food!
Towards the end of last summer, students were informed that Fontbonne would be receiving a new food supplier in the upcoming ‘23-’24 school year. Initially, there was a mixed reaction from the students, since they were used to previous lunches, staff, and snacks. But, just two months into school, the reactions have changed for the better.
“Leo’s” is where the new food is catered in from daily for Fontbonne and it is “Restaurant worthy food”, as Religious Studies teacher Mr. O'Connor stated. And Mr. O'Connor would be right! It is restaurant-worthy. After all, it is catered from an actual restaurant right on 3rd Avenue!
Leo Lykourezos is the owner of Leo’s, and to the Fontbonne community, always a kind and generous person at the cash register during lunch periods. After speaking to him much was learned.
Leo explained, “I’ve had my restaurant for twenty-six years and though I am a caterer, this is a first-time gig for me”. That is, catering school lunches daily for an entire school. Leo and his services have received very positive feedback lately!
Waffle fries, sweet wings, chicken teriyaki over rice, spring rolls, pasta, mozzarella sticks, and chicken-caesar wraps are only a snapshot of the variety available to Fontbonne students for lunch every day. Anaya Qayyum ‘24 agrees with this statement. She stated, “The new food is definitely fresh and we have so much more variety this year!”
With pretty balanced prices, great variety in drinks, meals, and snacks, and the kind of service Fontbonne’s new “Bonnie Cafe” has been a success. Students and teachers who have tried the lunch are well beyond pleased! Even though “I miss the old cookies” was a common phrase among the entire Fontbonne community, it is a hit!
