On Friday, April 26, Fontbonne’s Chamber Choir hosted their annual Spring Concert. With almost twenty girls, Ms. Klenner, and Mr. Esposito, the choir was able to perform many classics that warmed the hearts of their audience. Song choices ranged from “Defying Gravity” in Wicked to “Something’s Comin’” in West Side Story to “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
In the light spirit of spring, the choir had been practicing these songs since January and were happy to put together the synchronous harmonies and strategic melodies each song offered. Fontbonne’s chorale, or select some of the choir, also performed some pieces that they were working on after school. Classes and rehearsals mixed the beauty of music in a team-effort and the result clearly showed to the audience present that night.
SAC, with Ms. Cook and the help of Ms. Klenner, also hosted a bake sale to bring more joy and excitement to the event, and eventually help the music department, in giving the audience options for food and drink while watching the performance.
Solos and duets were practiced and sung to highlight the angelic voices of those within the choir. Molly Fox ‘26, who sang Good Morning, Baltimore from Hairspray also offered her remarks on the success of the night: “The night went just as planned with a bake sale run by SAC and the lovely Chamber Choir showcasing what we have been working on for all these months. It seemed the parents and faculty really enjoyed their evening and our performance.”
The overall message from Friday night was that the choir enjoyed every second of performing, alongside their conductors, and enthusiastic and supportive audience. The end of the night resulted in a standing ovation, gratified audience, and satisfied choir.
