On May 16th the class of 2023 said goodbye to Fonbonne after four eventful years. They got to say their goodbyes the traditional Fontbonne way, with their tie-dye shirts and their food trucks.
Their last day of classes is always one to remember, not just for them but for the whole school. There was such an uplifting vibe in the courtyard as they all prepared to say their final farewells.
The seniors' last day of classes typically consists of them barely attending any classes at all, but rather spending time with one another. For years the seniors have continued this tradition of spending the day in the courtyard, playing music, signing shirts and yearbooks, eating treats from the food truck, taking pictures, counting down the seconds until their last bell, and crying.
It is their last hurrah before they are off to college and it is one that they will cherish forever. The whole Fontbonne community is sad to see them leave, from the teachers to freshmen they had befriended, as it leaves the school feeling empty.
Some of the seniors expressed their thoughts and emotion on the touchy subject of them leaving a school and a community they have gotten to know so well over four years.
“Our last day of school was the perfect way to close out the last four years at Fontbonne. As corny as it sounds, our courtyard dance parties and crying group countdown to the last bell are the things I’ll never forget,” senior Olivia Mola shared.
President Victoria Bruno said, “The last day at Fontbonne for me was very bittersweet. Although it was such a happy day, it was sad to know that that was the last time I would be a student at Fontbonne Hall Academy. It was a day filled with laughter and joy, but when that final bell rang the tears started coming.”
Ultimately, the seniors' last day classes was one to reminisce about. It was their last chance to come together as a class and bond before their graduation day.
Even though they will be missed greatly, we Bonnies wish them the very best of luck on their new journey in life. They will do great things in college and will always have Fontbonne in their hearts.
