Fontbonne Christmas has been a tradition for many decades. It is some students' favorite Fontbonne tradition! The biggest tradition we do to celebrate Christmas is when all grades gather in the courtyard or gymnasium to sing, or I should say scream, the 12 Days of Christmas song. Each grade is assigned lines in the song depending on your current year. The seniors' favorite part is shouting “5 golden rings” while holding up the rings they created. Girls scream as loud as they can to be louder than other grades to make it seem like they are better. This allows for fun bonding throughout the grades and an exciting tradition.
Freshmen haven’t gotten the chance to experience a Christmas with Fontbonne yet, but the other grades know that after our Christmas mass, we have a huge Christmas party. This consists of playing music in your FA, eating food snacks or desserts, exchanging gifts, taking pictures, and everyone’s favorite way of celebration, playing Just Dance!
Whether you’ve experienced it firsthand or not, everyone is looking forward to it this year. Savannah Musella ‘24 says, “I am so excited for FHA Christmas this year. It’s easily one of my favorite Fontbonne traditions. It is so nice to celebrate and have fun as a school right before we go on break. I remember having Fontbonne Christmas throughout my time here and we weren’t always able to celebrate Christmas the traditional way so I’m so glad we can get back to doing that since this tradition has been around for a very long time which we should continue.”
Kalia Osorio ‘27, says “I have not experienced Fontbonne Christmas so far which is why I'm super excited to finally celebrate it on Thursday. I can’t wait to dress down, play Christmas music, and celebrate with my friends. I am looking forward to eating desserts in my FA with Ms. DiCarlo. I am curious about the 12 Days of Christmas song since I have never seen it before, but I am so ready to scream the lyrics with my grade.”
It’s safe to say we are all eager to celebrate Christmas coming up! I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
