Fontbonne Halloween: Tricks, Treats, and Traditions

Emma Berardelli '26

Fontbonne does Halloween like no other school. Picture this, the Fontbonne courtyard is filled with Ronald McDonalds, superheroes, blown-up suits, sharks, superstars, and more. Well, you don’t have to imagine that…on Halloween, Fontbonne’s courtyard saw just that. Who said high schoolers were too cool to dress up? All four years were fitted in costumes and joined in on the fun! Even the Visitation students took part!

The Student Activities Council held its annual costume contest. The entire school community voted for who they thought deserved to win each category. This year the Best Solo/Duo Costume went to Emma Bodnar as Pitbull. The Best Group costume was awarded to the Ronald McDonald Seniors, who in addition to playing dress up, donated to the Ronald McDonald Charities to help families during their time of need.

The Best Visitation costume was awarded to Piera Cassara as Karen and last but certainly not least, the Best Staff Costume was awarded to no other than Nurse Viehl as the Spellingbee. Congratulations to all, they surely did not disappoint!

This courtyard spectacular is not a new thing, it is a long-time tradition. Ms. Connolly often recounts a few of her favorite Fontbonne Halloween memories. She makes sure to always dress up historically, as she is the chair of the history department. Her favorite costume was when she was a B17 World War 2 pilot, which she wore in honor of her dad. She also enjoyed her flapper costume back in 2016.

Check out the picture below of Ms. Connolly as a flapper next to Mrs. Brussi as an 80s Jane Fonda from her workout videos!

Traditions are so important to Fontbonne and the courtyard celebration on Halloween is one of the favorites of many students and faculty. Until next year!
