This year's lacrosse season has unfortunately come to an end. Although the teams’ records were not what we wanted them to be, that doesn't matter to the players. Everyone had a fun time and learned a lot.
JV is coached by Mr. Petric and Varsity is coached by Mr. Cleary. They are both sad to see the season come to an end.
This season, JV had 15 freshmen. Most of these girls have never played before this season. They have come very far, and some of the freshmen are even starters.
Freshman Sophia Felicia explained, “I never really thought about playing lacrosse until I came to Fontbonne, but now I am very glad I did.”
We are all upset about the season being over, but it is especially sad for the seniors who were on varsity. Some of the seniors played lacrosse for all four years while others have picked up the skill recently.
Playing a sport here at Fontbonne is a very good way to create friendships and to make memories.
Sophomore Rosa explained, “Although I am sad to see the season end, I had a lot of fun and I made some new friends.”
I'm sure everyone who played this year would agree with Rosa. There were a lot of fun times, between games, practices and bus trips.
“One of my favorite things about lacrosse was the long bus rides,” stated Grace Murphy. She explained how the girls would all joke around together, sing and braid each other’s hair.
“Being on a team with people creates such a strong bond,” said Jacqueline Bocchieri. “Lacrosse helped me become very close with girls I originally thought I wouldn't be friends with.”
Grace Murphy added, “Yeah I agree. At this point the team is like my second family and I am upset we are not going to be together every day, like we are during the season.”
Overall, this season has been a really good experience for all involved. As a whole, the team grew and improved.
