Fontbonne’s National Honor Society Raises Over $600 for Pasadena Humane’s Wildfire Relief Efforts

Emma Bodnar '25

In January, the National Honor Society launched its school-wide initiative to support Pasadena Humane and raise money for animals affected by the California wildfires that raged throughout the state. The initiative was initially proposed by senior Jacqueline Bocchieri, who was inspired by Pasadena Humane’s efforts to rescue and provide aid for the animals of California.

The initiative involved five uniquely themed gift baskets that could be won with raffle tickets sold from periods two to seven in the school cafeteria from Tuesday, January 28 to Friday the 31.

The five prize baskets were each created by an executive board member of the honor society - the body care basket by Morgan Gonzalez, the movie night basket by Vasilia Koutsivitis, the coffee/Starbucks basket by Giada Amendolara, the Stanley basket by Anna DeSilvio, and the pet basket by Jacqueline Bocchieri, who launched the initiative.

During the available periods, raffle tickets were sold by members of the honor society to students, faculty, and staff to promote the initiative and raise awareness for Pasadena Humane. By the next week, there were five basket winners, five runners-up, and over $600 raised towards the effort.

The check and a letter signed by every member of the honor society were mailed to Pasadena Humane in February, showing the success of the fundraiser and the generosity of the Fontbonne community.
