On March 4th, my uncle, Arthur Aidala, visited Fontbonne to meet with students from Ms. Cook’s law classes. He taught us valuable life lessons he has learned throughout his law journey. He began his discussion by sharing a story about a specific case that meant a lot to him. Not only did he teach us about his cases, but he also gave us insight into what it is like being a lawyer. He shared his process in becoming a lawyer and in preparing to take the Bar exam.
One day in class, Ms. Cook was talking about lawyers who were hired to defend celebrities. She told us that lawyers have to put up a good defense for someone no matter what they are accused of. She said that everyone has the right to a defense, even if they are portrayed as a villain in the media.
I immediately thought of my uncle defending Harvey Weinstein for his case. I remember my uncle hiding from the press and just doing his job without getting involved in the media. I told Ms. Cook right away and we scheduled a time for him to come and share his experiences throughout the trial, as well as many other cases he has worked on.
My uncle works on civil and criminal cases so he has seen and experienced so much, with more than 25 years of experience. He has represented hundreds of privately retained clients in both Federal and State courts in jurisdictions throughout the country.
He has handled complicated matters on behalf of his clients involving all aspects of white-collar crime, including allegations of securities fraud, accounting and bank fraud, RICO violations, bribery, bid-rigging, extortion, and embezzlement.
Individuals, corporations, and companies of varied sizes have retained him regarding investigations and prosecutions by the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
His law firm is Aidala, Bertuna, & Kamins, which has 3 locations: Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Southampton. They assist you with Civil Litigation, Criminal Defense, and Wills, Trusts & Estates.
He also hosts a weekly radio show from Monday to Friday from 6-7 PM on AM970 The Answer. It is called The Arthur Aidala Power Hour and is live on the radio every day, but can also be listened to on a podcast in case you miss it. I have been on it several times and think it is so cool.
I have always looked up to my uncle because he works very hard for everything he has now. His hard work, perseverance, and determination are admirable. He puts everything into all of his cases and works with his heart on his sleeve. He is so passionate about his career which allows him to work so efficiently. He fights hard to represent his clients to the best of his ability and his dedication pays off.
On having my uncle come speak to the class, Ms. Cook said, "It was such a pleasure to welcome Mr. Arthur Aidala to our Law classroom. He demonstrated the storytelling talents of an attorney perfectly. Several girls said that they looked up more about the crane case that he described. I really appreciated Mr. Aidala's emphasis on passion and preparation. Following his visit, Law students were inspired to get right into the next steps of their own mock trial prep!"
I am so grateful that my uncle was able to come to my school and share courtroom experiences with me and my peers. We all enjoyed listening to his stories and journey.
