Mean Girls Has Been Cast, and Will Be Totally Fetch

Efstasia Karahalios '24

Fontbonne Hall Academy has put on some wonderful plays in the past years, including Legally Blonde and Hairspray, but will now perform the Broadway staple Mean Girls.

The show will be directed by Susan Huizinga and Nicole Frasca, a teacher here at Fontbonne. Auditions were held earlier this month, and practices will typically be held on Tuesdays and Fridays in the music room.

The infamous roles of Cady Heron, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith have been cast by some of the most talented girls Fontbonne has seen. Recurring drama club participants, Anita Perez and Hailey Johnson, now serve as President and Vice President of the club. Both girls are playing lead roles in the play: Cady Heron is being played by Hailey Johnson ‘25 and Sophia Velez ‘26, while Regina George is going to be played by Anita Perez ‘24 and Despina Savva ‘25.

Karen Smith will be played by Julianna Bambina ‘24, and Gretchen Wieners is going to be played by Alyssa Martin-McCulbugh ‘25.

“This is my third year being in the Drama Club and I am so beyond excited. I've always had a love for Mean Girls and in specific Regina George, so it's surreal that I now get to play her alongside Despina!” quotes Anita Perez ‘24.

“It’s my second year being in the Drama Club, and I'm so honored to have a lead this year and be able to be Vice President,” says Hailey Johnson, a sophomore who participated in last year's production of Matilda as Mrs. Phelps and an older school child.

The school is beyond excited to see this production come together, and congratulations to all of the actors and actresses participating!
