Mr. O’Connor and His Beard Join the Fontbonne Family

Cristal Vega Perez '25

Mr. O’Connor is a new religion teacher at Fontbonne as of 2022. He has been a great addition to Fontbonne’s welcoming community.

Mr. O’Connor grew up in Staten Island and attended Binghamton University as an undergraduate and St. Joseph Seminary for his Master's degree.

He teaches the 10th grade at Fontbonne Hall Academy and has one 9th grade class.

When asked what motivated him to teach, Mr. O’Connor said, “I wanted to make an impact on someone before they went to college and into the real world. High school is a good place for that.”

Mr. O’Connor loves Fontbonne, and his favorite thing is “the balance between academics, discipline, and fun.” This is definitely a statement any Fontbonne student or faculty member can agree with.

He decided to become a religion teacher during his time at St Joseph Seminary. “When I was in seminary, I had excellent teachers that inspired me and showed me how important our religion is.” If Mr. O’Connor wasn’t teaching religion, he says he would be teaching history because his undergrad is in global science.

Mr. O’Connor likes Fontbonne a lot because the faculty and students get along and everyone does what they’re supposed to do.

Fontbonne has many traditions new students and faculty can look forward to. Mr. O’Connor is most excited about Fontbonne Christmas and Sports Night. We are thrilled to have people new to the school such as our religion teacher Mr. O’Connor experiencing our sacred traditions.
