The Scholars Society at Fontbonne held a bake sale to raise money for the Olivia Foundation. Scholars Society is made up of very intelligent freshmen and sophomores who are eventually able to move further into the National Honors Society based on their grade point averages. The exclusive club plans many events to benefit those around them including care packages, Christmas toy drives, food drives and bake sales.
The Olivia Foundation receives donations that are given to aid research in pediatric cancer, specifically pediatric brain tumors. The Scholars Society held meetings to organize the sale and appoint students to sell during the last 20 minutes of every lunch period, and every student involved was required to bring in a baked good to be sold. Along with the help of Ms. Sosa and Mrs. Winslow, the ladies were able to have a successful sale.
Many students participating truly enjoyed the event, “I covered Tuesday for the 4th period lunch. Everything was so delicious and I had a really good time selling with my friends,” says sophomore and second year member of the club, Faith Lopez.
Students buying from the sale were also excited to have a variety of different treats at lunch. “I specifically loved the gingerbread cookies” comments a junior who bought from the sale on the first day, Dakota Spinelli. The lunches often had lots of eager students waiting to buy the treats the girls had made which benefited the Olivia Foundation.
