Senior Sister Sendoff!

Emma Berardelli '26

Our beloved seniors have graduated, and for all of Fontbonne, this is a bittersweet experience. Whether you are an upperclassman saying goodbye to friends who you’ve been with for years, or freshmen saying goodbye to your senior sisters, we have all cherished every moment with the Class of 2023.

I am a freshman and this year has been a wonderful first year at Fontbonne. I truly believe the extreme success of this year is because of the senior class. My classmates and I were guided by the seniors from the very first week when we arrived at school. My first and most favored in-school memory with my senior sister, Natalie DiCapua, was before the “Opening Mass of the Holy Spirit” back in September. Everyone met their “sister” and prepared to walk into the gym with her. As we walked through those gym doors hand in hand, we unknowingly walked into a beautiful year together, a year that we now are going to miss.

After many thoughtfully planned Senior Sister events, there was a Senior Sister Sendoff Ice Cream Social in the courtyard this past May 15. Though it was quick, it was the sweetest “see you later” for the seniors and freshmen. Natalie DiCapua ‘23 said, “I thought the send-off was really special since it was our final celebration together as freshmen/senior sisters. It was so much fun to spend some time with our sisters as we were about to leave and as they were about to be sophomores.” I couldn't agree more with my senior sister. The ice cream was delicious and the quality time was so needed, everyone enjoyed it. It is going to be tough without her and the whole class next year.

I cannot continue to go on about these events without mentioning our freshman president, Jacqueline Ghorra ’23. She was the backbone of everything, and I look up to her for her hard work. Jacqueline, amidst her hard work, also enjoyed this ice cream social. She said “The ice cream send-off was such a wonderful way to end the day and the year for us seniors. We started the year with a celebration as we welcomed in the freshman, and now we pass on the torch to bright, growing minds. The ice cream social was light and fun. I am so delighted to call it a memory and a growing tradition”.

We wish all of the seniors the best of luck in the next years and we are so proud of them. We thank them for guiding us, laughing with us, and helping make each FHA tradition and memory special. They went above and beyond. We do wish we could go back to our Senior Sister picnic or our Valentine’s Day Senior Sister Breakfast, but we will hold those memories through pictures, laughs, and stories. Thank you, seniors, for everything. The Class of 2026 couldn’t have made it through freshman year without you!
