Sisterhood, Cips, and Santa at the Sophomore Sleepover

Samantha Mitchell ‘25

On December 7, the sophomore class had a sleepover. This event was organized by the sophomore year coordinators – Ms. Cook and Mr. Surdyka – along with the sophomore class president Caitrina Mullally and the sophomore class representative Giada Amendolara.

The whole class slept in the Gym together. It was a lot of fun.

The girls arrived at school around 7 and brought their air mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Then the food came at 7:30. Everyone ate around big tables, “Like a family,” the grade 10 year coordinator, Mr. Surdyka explained.

There were many teachers who went to the sleepover, but the only two teachers who stayed overnight were Ms. Cook and Ms. Duggan. The other teachers and faculty who attended the event were Mr. Surduka, Mr. Petric, Ms. Dowling, Mr. Foppiani, and Mr. Cleary. Even Dr. Herron made an appearance.

“I thought that it was fabulous,” said Mr. Petric.

There was even a special guest – our former teacher Ms. Cipriano. Everyone was so excited to see her considering that all of the sophomores had her for global 9.

“I was so shocked and happy to see Ms. Cips,” said Toni Fichter ‘25.

The night was filled with holiday fun. The sophomores watched Christmas movies and listened to holiday music. They watched Home Alone, The Polar Express, and A Christmas Story.

That’s not where the fun stopped – they played Just Dance and did karaoke.

“I haven’t danced that much in a while,” said Giada Amendolara ‘25.

Ms. Cipriano wasn’t the only person who came to visit. Santa Claus himself flew down from the North Pole just to see Fontbonne’s Sophomores.

As Julianna Glover said at the sleepover, “Oh my gosh it’s Santa!”

Everyone was really thrilled to see Santa. He danced to Christmas music with the sophomores. Santa also had a good time.

All of the sophomores laughed together. As Ms. Cook said, “I think everyone had a fun goofball time.” And she was right. Everyone was smiling and joking around together.

This is such a good opportunity for the girls in Fontbonne. It helps the girls bond and brings everyone closer together. Times like this at Fontbonne are reasons that Fontbonne is like a family. All the girls are like sisters.

“I love my Fontbonne family and how close I became with them over this past year and a half,” explained Toni-Marie Fichter ‘25. Most of the girls in the school feel the same way.

“I can’t wait to continue to grow my friendships here at Fontbonne,” said sophomore representative, Giada Amendolara.

This year's sophomore sleepover was a great experience for all involved, as well as a great success.
