For “clerical reasons,” Mr. Scheidt has decided to move the annual senior retreat from early December to early February of 2023. The senior retreat is a tradition that many Catholic high schools do. Seniors from previous years have said that it is one of the most memorable parts of their senior year.
The seniors from previous years have also said that it is a place where they can be themselves and that it changes them for the better. It is a very intimate and emotional time for all the girls there. Andrianna Polito, class of 2022 shared, “It brought me closer to my friends, and it had personal meaning for me. My nonna used to go to Don Bosco for weekend trips and sometimes retreats, and I felt like having my senior retreat there brought me closer to her since I lost her so young. I also feel like it brings everyone together because we all realize how much we all really mean to each other.”
Mr. Scheidt is the campus minister and religion teacher for the juniors. When asked how he felt about the senior retreat being moved, he said, “I'm not too worried about it. I don't necessarily have a feeling about it. There may be some ways we are trying to include the faculty more.” From this information, the current seniors can expect fun things.
Every year, the seniors are not allowed to know what happens during the retreat because it could ruin the experience for others. This is a pretty good idea because it will benefit the seniors in the long run. Many seniors come back from this trip with a different sense of life.
“I’m most excited about being with the whole class of 2023. As our time at Fontbonne slowly comes to an end, I know that I will miss being with everyone. So I think that our retreat is going to be a perfect time to be with each other and to open up to one another,” said Student President Victoria Bruno, class of 2023. We cannot wait to see what the retreat will hold for all of the seniors this year. It sure will be special for everyone.
