Upcoming Events for Fontbonne

Jacqueline Ghorra '23

The end of the school year is approaching, but there is still a jam-packed schedule for the coming weeks. These events include the Art Show, school play, Fontbonne Lacrosse Senior Day, and the Spring Concert.

The Art Show is one of Fontbonne’s long-lasting traditions. This year, it will kick off on April 26th from 3:00-7:00 pm. The Art Show has an emphasis on senior Major Art 3 students who will get their own wall to showcase their work. Visual Perception, Major Art 1 and 2, and Photography students will also have a chance to showcase what they have been working hard on all year long.

“As a Major Art 3 student, it is so rewarding being able to showcase and talk about all of my artwork and what each piece means to me. As we finish off the Major Art track, we get to see all of the seniors' motifs and the story behind each and every one of them,” said artist Ava Berardelli.

The wooden tables and chairs will be removed from room 102 and art will be displayed throughout 102 and the foyer. Last year, the Art Show lasted for three weeks and led into the 7th grade open house. However, this year the art show is only three days long.

The play is another one of Fontbonne’s great traditions. This year the Drama club is putting on the production of Mean Girls on April 28th, 29th, and 30th. The director is Susan Huizinga, the moderator is Ms. Frasca, the choreographer is Elise Connolly, and the music director is George Lutton. The set will consist of costumes and projections made by the director Susan.

“I hope everyone has the time of their life and performs their best! My expectations are that everyone does very well and the audience will thoroughly enjoy the show! This show is very fun and the girls love it! When they show their love through their singing and dancing, the audience will be able to feel it. I am so proud of my cast and I know they are going to be amazing!” said Ms. Frasca.

We would like to congratulate leading roles: Cady Heron/Grace/Ensemble: Hailey Johnson and Sophia Velez, and Regina George/Sonya A/Ensemble: Anita Perez and Despina Savva.

Regarding Lacrosse, the season is almost at an end, as there are only four games left for the Varsity team. On April 29th, the seniors will be honored for all of their teamwork and sportsmanship, as they are sent on their way to college.

While on the field, the seniors will be presented with a bouquet of flowers and proudly announced to the crowd. Off the field, the girls will be celebrated at a dinner that the mothers are working hard on planning. We are thrilled to announce and congratulate the 2023 Fontbonne Lacrosse seniors: Samantha Leone, Ava Mollaghan, Jacqueline Ghorra, Daniela Angerome, Ashley Konner, Julia Teich, Olivia Bradley, Lauren Polito, Ava Berardelli, and Brianna LoPorto.

The Spring Concert is also underway. It is an end-of-the-year final performance for all of the girls to show off what they’ve been working so hard on all year. There will be a one-night performance on May 12th, at 6:30 pm, with a variety of well-known pieces being performed by all of the choirs as well as featured soloists performing a variety of songs.

“I think the chamber choir’s performance of ‘Stay’ by Rihanna will definitely be a favorite amongst the crowd because of how popular and well known it is,” said performer Natalie DiCapua.

This also happens to be the Friday following the AP weeks, so it will be a great way to relax, unwind, and enjoy the show.

We are all looking forward to embracing Fontbonne’s talent in the performing arts and sports in the weeks ahead. Let's celebrate and encourage everyone to come show our pride and cheer on our bonnies, as we begin to close out a fantastic year.
